Commencal CLASH 2020

Commencals newest All Mountain smasher

After our last long term experience with the Commencal Supreme SX (see report here) we now got our hands on the new Commencal Clash.

Frame arrived in April 2020 in perfect condition ex Andorra via the new Commencal Sydney branch.

Frame specs:

165mm travel/27.5"/aluminium

Color :Gunmetal

Built:

Shock : Rockshox Superdeluxe Ultimate

Fork: 180mm Lyric

Sram GX 11 speed gearing

Mavic aluminum hoops (tough and cheap)

OneUp 180mm Dropper with WolfTooth Remote Lever (replacing the forever sagging Reverb)

E*Thirteen Chainguide and bumper:

Reliable Sram Guide RE fourpot brakes and 200mm rotors

Some nice new DMR V12's to finish it off:

Ready for first Ride:

This frame has got a very beefy solid wide rear end and there is plenty of clearance for large tyres without rubbing the frame in muddy conditions , very nice.

Impressions after 2 month:

After 2 month of riding the Clash there are no complaints, the frame is still as solid as on day one.

Due to Covid restrictions the frame has been ridden mostly on softer trail conditions and dirtjumps in our area and has only been up to Beechworth and MtBeauty once for some more techy, rocky terrain.

Again as on other Commencals there are minor cosmetic niggles with the paintjob chipping but otherwise all is good.

So far with the Commencal Clash you get everything that is written on the box:

Solid aluminium frame , a bit on the heavy side , but this is o.k. by us, chunky frame = solid frame - we hope.

Climbing is allright ,you can feel the weigth in the Clash, and it is not he best. (who cares as this is only to get you up for the downhill)

Going downhill is excellent the more rowdy it gets the more the Clash will deliver.

Had plenty of time with the Clash on our dirt slalomtracks and it is a good balanced bike for that kind of stuff as well.

Last but not least the Clash, like most Commencals, is an awesome looking bike. If you shell out all this cash on a Clash you will have at least something nice to look at after a ride, beer in hand.

Ride on
