Little place - Big tracks

Forrest is a small village in Victorias Otway Ranges just inland from the Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Apollo Bay.

Forrest has got two trailheads to start your ride:

Forrest and the Yaugher trailhead:

The Forrest Trailhead:

The Forrest trailhead starts in the middle of town just off the Brewery towards Apollo Bay (yes there is a Brewery but we will get to that later). There you find some ripper trails including "Follow the dog"(6). This area is great for a spin close to town but is a mere warm up for the main attractions waiting for you at the Yaugher Trailhead.

The Yaugher Trailhead:

The Yaugher trailhead is a few k's out of town on the other side of the Brewery.There you find some fantastic riding amongst the finest scenery the Otways have to offer. Zooming past grasstrees under a rainforest canopy there are the rides Forrest is known for. There you will find the infamous "Marriners Run"(9) with it's magnificent berms and straight next door is "Grasstrees"(8) a nice short technical trail for fast roosting.

On the other side of Yaugher you find the Team Wombat picks of the bunch. "Yo Yo"(12) as the name suggest is a trail that sends you up and down past majestic gumtrees , a challenging trail which will get your lungs and your heartrate going.The mix of short uphill bursts and fast singletrack decents is excellent fun.Than we got "Casper Black"(13),nearly 6 k's of singletrack heaven. Roosting the downhills on Casper Black are just the best , and will make you want to ride straight back to the start and do it all over. Just typing this makes me want to get out there and ride Yaugher again.

For safety there is now trailwide mobile phone reception and a defibrilator at the trailhead .

There are great tracks and the good chance to have most of the tracks all to yourself. Forrest is still a secret to most ,and you would be absolut stupid not to go there, with enough challenging AM/XC riding to keep you riding with a huge smile for days on end.

Ahh yes the Forrest Brewery, what can you say, it still makes good ales and has some great food for lunch and dinner. (thanks all, keep up the good work !!)
