Commencal Meta 55 - 2010 to 2012

2 Year Long Term Test

Commencal Meta 55 is a legend among AM bikes , but can it handle abuse day in and day out for a sustained period?

We decided to put it to the test.

Commencal Meta 55

After all the problems Commencal had with their 2009 frames, the 2010 onward models have been redesigned and so far we have not had any problems (cracking) with our frame nor have we seen or heard of other Crackensals in the 2010 and there after series.

Our 2010 model (in white which made a change from the neon green in 2009) has been all that original reports hyped it up to be, a trusty, truly All Mountain bike great for all terrain. The Meta 55 went through quite some punishment over the last 2 years and passed everything with flying colors.

In this time we only had to change the bearings once which is quite good considering that this bike had constant off road use and has been pressure washed more times than we can recall (yes we are lazy, but this means less time cleaning and more time riding).

All up would we buy one again ?? YES we would, if you still find one. Commencal has now changed to the all new Meta AM to replace the Meta 55 so be quick and you still can snatch up a Meta 55 for a bargain price.

The jury is still out on the Meta AM, initial reports are great, but it has large shoes to fill to live up to it's predecessor , the now truly legendary Meta 55.
