Team Wombat New South Wales 2024

Dungog Common MTB Park - The Hunter N.S.W.

Whats cooking at Dungog in 2024:

New Velosolutions Pump Track:

New Velosolutions Pumptrack opened beginning of the year.

Excellent surface built to last, wish all pumptracks would be built to this standard.

Velosolutions is surly one of the best companies to pump out new pumptracks worldwide and it is great to see these now being build down under.

Dual Slalom Competition track:

New Dual Slalom race track open by May 2024

Pixies were busy building in April on my last visit and the trail should be an absolut ripper

Ridge Flow trail improvements:

Some works have been done on the Ridge trail which now rivals the Jumpstreet in riot score. Good Job

New benches and tables:

You now find large new picknick tables and benches along the trails with little roofs. These little improvements make a real difference especially on hot days when a comfy resting spot with shade is very welcome.

I have spoken to the crew responsible for the build of the Pump-track and the new Dual Slalom and there are no shortcuts on these builds.

It is great that a small community like Dungog can see the benefits of such major investment in their town and keep improving it year after year.

I can see Dungog now to be a great place for a Mountainbike festival with Dual Slalom, Pumptrack competition and timed Flow trails (perhaps under lights). Add a band or two and the stage for a yearly outdoor riding spactacle would be set. The potential for a great event in Dungog Common is now clear to see for all and hope it will be eventuate.

Congratulations to all organisers and builders involved. Keep up the excellent work.

Dungog is still tiny but the trails are getting bigger and better every year !!!

We arrived in Dungog trailhead Saturday morning on a perfect day expecting at least some riders but to our surprise we had the trails mostly to ourselves all day, yeahhh.

The Dungog Common Flowtrails:

A short climb (100m verts / 15min) later you got the option of three perfect flow trails.

First take in the view over the Hunter for a few minutes (resting on the new bench and tables) before hitting the middle "JumpStreet" jump trail and you are off. 1.5ks of perfect berms and tabletops galore.

Other options, once you reached to top, are an easier blue trail on your left and the newly improved Ridgetrail on the right

Ride these trails as fast as your skills allow, the berms and jumps are perfectly machined for maximum roosting fun.

We could not believe that we were lucky to have these trails all for ourselves on a perfect day. Made us check our phones to ensure we have not missed the Zombie apocalypse.

Check out Jack Moir doing the flowtrails at Dungog:

Please subscribe to Jack if you have not done so already

The Dungog XC loops:

After spending a couple of hours on the flow trails we forced ourselves away to check out the available XC loops.

The longest 15km loop takes in most of Dungog XC trails and is of medium difficulty.

Mostly singletrail the riding changes form spikey rocky to smooth grasslands. Some excellent views of the Hunter Valley along this trail.

Anyway we pushed through the loop as fast as we could under the knowledge that it brings us back to the above mentioned flow trails.

Ended up riding the flowtrails until late in the afternoon, a perfect day in the saddle.

Dungog you have done good. (see what we have done here).

Put Dungog on your list for a day or two, you won’t be disappointed.

Ride on mates!!! .............. Team Wombat Mountainbike
