Buxton Victoria:

The Cathedral

for some its a religous experience ..............

Buxton got hit hard by the 2021 winter storms.

But worry not, the pixies have been busy.

Trails all repaired and are sweet and fresh for the Summer 21/22, and we were there with bells on.

Berms are faster than ever this year, the loop is on the menu, mmmmm.

Swoooosh................

Buxton Loop - Acheron Ridge:

On the surface it seems not much has changed (which is good) you might think, but you are mistaken. You will find some new berms and some that have been rebuild and are bigger and better than ever and lots of smart trail improvements that make the loop even better. Well done pixies, bravo !!!

It is also worth mentioning that Buxton riding, amongst trees and ferns gives you plenty of shade even on a warmer day

"Ferns" is a great section of the Acheron Ridge a winding decent with just perfect flow.

An absolut hoot of a ride under ferns (hence the name) shooting from one side of the gully to the other, brilliant fun.

About 14 km of mountainbike heaven full of berms and under ferns the loop is a great way to start the day and you will be well warmed up for the main event which is at the end of the loop "The Cathedral".

The Cathedral:

a brilliant descent that will make you grin from ear to ear.

Cathedral terminates into a fast intermediate to advanced downhill with big jumps (good fast b-lines if you prefer to keep the rubber to the ground) and some fantastic large high dirt berms.

We absolutely love Cathedral, a not to hard climb (if you take it easy) and a bomber downhill. Worth to go there for Cathedral all day long.

To get there start out at Acheron Ridge, shortcut on Midget and back on Acheron until you hit the Cathedral climb. Have a rest on top and enjoy the view over the Cathedral before hitting the downhill, once at the bottom refill and do it again. Excellent. .

Buxton is going from strength to strength keep up the good work.

Everytime we get there, always amazed by the excellent job of the forest management pixies here over the years. It is obvious a place that is proudly maintained and well looked after by a very dedicated team of skillfull people. Thanks to their hard work us Wombats can pray at the Cathedral on any day of the week (exept during the winter closure off course)
