Team Wombat Bikes:
Commencal Meta SX 2022:
The SX is finally back where it belongs, under the META banner. The last release of an SX under the Supreme banner was a good idea but it was a bit of an engineering disaster, so here is hoping that the new SX META has got better reliability than the SUPREME SX (see our report here).
So what do we know so far:
Release second quarter of 2022 - Option to Pre-order now?!
It looks great, like all Commies do
The colors are good as long as you like bland, boring and champagne, but they still got a silver option which is my favorite. Hopefully they will release a brushed alu frame down the track.
It is a Mullet 27/29er which is good to keep everyone happy (no fighting about wheel-sizes again please, but how good would a 26/27 ride ? Only kidding...........
The SX got 160mm travel back and 170mm travel up front
As always with Commencal you can get a Fox version (SX Signiture) the and a Rock Shock one (SX Team)
SX Signiture comes with Fox Float X2 Rear shock and Fox 38 Factory 170mm up front whilst the SX Team is loaded with RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock and a Zeb Ulimate Fork 170mm up front
Price for the Team is 7599 bucks for the Signiture is 8699 bucks
The new SX has got a FLIP CHIP at the rear shock for more adjustment. Overkill? Probably, at least I will never use, but its there to be fiddled with by the fiddlers.
Did I mention Champagne? SX Signiture in gold Champagne, nice.
Braking is done on 180mm disks with 4 pot brakes, good job Commencal
Groupset midrange either the excellent GX Eagle on the Meta Sx Team or the battle proven Shimano XT on the Meta SX Signiture
Dropperposts are either the Fox Transfer (SX Signiture) or KS Lev Integra (SX Team) Both reliable posts and good to see that Commencal has not opted for the crappy, unreliable Sram Reverb for the SX Teamw, good choice.
Cable run is very similar to the Clash (see our Clash report here) which has given us no problems over the last year
Below find all the frame figures for the bike geeks to geek over:
The Commencal Meta SX looks like it has got some neat welds with solid bearings all round, and they even drilled some holes for a bottlecage this time.
So on paper this looks like a solid ride and I am looking forward to get my hands on one.
Until then ride on mates !!!!! .................. Xandi ............. Team Wombat Australia
